The opioid crisis: Addicted at birth

Hospital staff can have trained ears to the cry given by babies suffering with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS). It is very distinct and high-pitched, almost like a scream that doesn’t stop until after the drug is out of their bodies.

This group project tells the story of the overlooked issues in the Appalachian area, focusing on opioids and how they effect the community, future and citizens. This was done with the help of two other reporters and myself.
